Plant potting workshop for children

Wednesday 2 August 2023 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

£9

Carrot and beetroot

This workshop is about the life of a carrot and a beetroot and how they grow from seed to delicious vegetables to eat! We will learn about germination and different parts of the plant (roots, shoots, leaves and stems) and what plants need to live (water, soil and sunshine). The children will be given beetroot seeds and carrot seeds prepared inside a play dough ball, ready to plant, to take home in paper pots. These will germinate indoors. To highlight how special these plants are, the children will make and decorate their own origami pots, using  craft paper & stickers.

We know that talking about plants is just as important as being able to identify them, so after sowing our seeds, we’ll walk around the garden to look at different plant foliage shapes and smells!

The workshop is aimed at children aged 4 to 10 years old.
The workshop will last between 40 minutes to 1 hour.

Children must be accompanied by a parent/adult carer at all times.

Session times are :
1:00pm
