Wednesday 22 February 2023 at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Free

Researcher Elisabeth Cooper stands in a grassy arctic environment in front of three open top chambers - Plexiglass devices for researching the effect of temperature increases

Elisabeth Cooper is a Bristolian, living and working in the Arctic. She is a Professor of Plant Ecology at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, and has many years of field experience far North of the Arctic Circle, both in summer and winter. She will introduce us to the landscapes and vegetation of Norway, with a focus on the archipelago of Svalbard, Europe’s Northernmost islands, where the sun doesn’t set for 4 months each summer, and botanists regularly encounter polar bears. This talk is open to everyone, with plenty of pictures of arctic plants.
