Friends’ Annual General Meeting

Wednesday 20 March at 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm

The 48th Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 20 March 2024 at 7pm at the Frank Theatre, Tyndall Avenue, Bristol BS8 1TL  followed by a lecture by Dr Chris Thorogood at 7.30pm.

The Committee will present the financial report for the year ending 31 December 2023 which is available here.

    Re: AOB

    I am unable to attend the AGM but wish to raise an AOB regarding the cessation of entrance fee payments in cash.

    I wish to point out that this excludes all those who are unable (often for debt reasons) to pay by card/cannot get a bank account. This seems to be to go against the charitable status of the Garden (ethos, not legislation) and its commitment to spread knowledge and understanding of plant life.

    Bristol has many disadvantaged communities, plenty of which are finding life even harder in the current financial climate. I would suggest this makes it even more important that we do not exclude them from the healing nature of green spaces, education regarding plant life and an appreciation of its importance to the environment.

    I therefore call upon the Garden to enable those who need to, to pay in cash.
