Science picnic: Dr Andy Bailey’s academic life in fungi.

Thursday 27 July 2023 at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Dr Andy BaileyJoin Dr Andy Bailey as he talks about his life in molecular mycology, a fascinating world and an expert in his field. He has researched all sorts of aspects of fungal biology, ranging from their development, the diseases they cause to plants and insects, possible use for biological control, managing fungi by chemical methods, fungi as food and their abilities to produce valuable chemicals. He will talk about the kinds of molecule that are made, how they are made, the sorts of uses we have put them to, and discuss why fungi might make them. The talk will end with an opportunity to ask Andy anything and everything about fungi.

Science picnics in the early evening summer Botanic Garden are a great way to hear about research in Bristol University; bring drinks and snacks and enjoy.

In the event of rain this talk will be moved indoors to our study room.
