Bee and Pollination Festival

The Bee and Pollination Festival returns this year on the earlier weekend of the August bank holiday. This is a great place to learn about the vital role pollinators play in our lives, see demonstrations, exhibits, and talks, buy honey and see the Botanic Garden in all its September finery.
Speakers include; Dr Rowena Jenkins (Sunday 2pm) from University of Cardiff will reveal the amazing benefits of Manuka honey and its use in surgery; Dr Thomas O’Shea-Wheller (Saturday 11am) discusses the advance, behavior and threat of the Asian hornet; Dr Steve Nicholls (Saturday 2pm) give an introduction to the world of
dragonflies and how they have evolved; Monica Barlow (Sunday 3pm) for Bees for Development shows how conserving bees and making the beekeepers work economically viable can help conserve natural habitat for some of the world’s poorest communities. Click here full listing of talks.

I am a sculptor in Cork Ireland and I wanted to ask if you host any prizes or awards for the Bee Festival and if so how will you be ddressing green procurement on that. I would like to send a proposal for my work as awards this year, and perhaps an installation of my handmade Eco friendly ceramic birdfeeders that featured last summe at the Botanic gardens Dublin at Sculpture in Contex. If you can direct me to the person who is dealing with that I would appreciate that..
Also I wanted to check if you have a market at this event for Craft..

Hello Martha, thank you for getting in touch. Our Bee and Pollination festival was started in collaboration with the Bristol Beekeepers honey festival. We now have exhibitors from allotment associations, community groups, pollination researchers from the University, charities, and nurseries. Art isn’t the main focus of this event, but we do host an Easter Sculpture festival which is more in keeping.
