The reopening of the Garden

The Garden was built for people to view, a way for everyone to experience the diversity and wonder of the plant world. Over the last four months we have closed to the public as a response to the global pandemic, a way of helping reduce the risk to our staff and slow the spread of COVID-19.

We are currently working towards reopening, a process that involves obtaining University Covid secure certification, to minimise the risk for visitors, staff, volunteers and students. As soon as the work to obtain University Covid secure certification is achieved, we will publicise a reopening date; after the date has been set, the first two weeks will be open to members of the Friends, University staff and students only. Week three will be Friends and their non-Friends guests, University staff and students, week four will be Friends and public, University staff and students. This will involve ticketed time slots bought in advance and currently no access to the glasshouses (due to humid wet environments).

The Garden will open at a reduced price due to the closure of the glasshouses during the pandemic threat; we will also only open during weekdays initially.

We hope everyone is well and we look forward to seeing you in the Garden, we’ve missed you.
